TEHRAN -- Iranian land artist Ahmad Nadalian is invited to display a collection of his artworks at the ARKO Art Center in Seoul, South Korea in October.
A collection of installations and video art, a series of photos of his previous land artworks, as well as his bicycle of peace will go on show beside artworks by ten other artists invited from Japan, Germany, China, Britain, Argentina, India, the Netherlands, the United States and South Korea.“The Korean officials of ARKO Center showed their interest in the bicycle whose tire bears an imprint of the phrase “Dream of Peace in the Persian Gulf” and asked to transfer the message of peace to other nations in the world,” Nadalian told the Persian service of ISNA on Monday.
Nadalian is planning to perform his land art on the banks of the Han River in Seoul. He is also determined to ride his bicycle of peace on a beach in the city. He will be taking new imprints on his bike with him.
The tire of Nadalian’s bicycle bears an imprint of the phrase “Dream of Peace in the Persian Gulf” and by riding bicycle, the phrase will be imprinted in the sands.
“I made use of an old tire and prepared the letters in English first and later attached them to the original tire on the bike,” he had said earlier.
Nadalian rode his bicycle of peace on the Persian Gulf Coast last year on Hormoz Island. “I aim to preserve the geographical, political and cultural boundaries of my country Iran, and I believe art is the best means to help fight against distortion of the name ‘Persian Gulf’,” he had declared.
Modern Iranian land art is associated with Nadalian. He usually creates his works and leaves them in natural locations, ranging from trees to high cliffs, deserts, and on riverbeds.
His works have been on display from Iran to Japan, China, Italy, France, the U.S., and several other countries.
